President Bush visited the National Security Agency to partcipate in a briefing and greet National Security Agency Employees. He then made a statement on the Protect America Act of 2007. In August, Congress passed and the President signed into law the Protect America Act of 2007, which modified the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) to give our intelligence community necessary tools to acquire important information about our enemies. It is essential that Congress make the Protect America Act permanent and pass legislation to provide meaningful liability protection to those alleged to have assisted our Nation following the 9/11 attacks. In the afternoon, President Bush met with the Boys and Girls Clubs of America regional finalists and Youth of the Year.

President Bush visited with members of military support organizations at the White House. These organizations are devoted to helping the men and women of the Armed Forces and provide a multitude of services, including financial assistance, sending care packages and letters, and helping wounded warriors.”When the history books are finally written about this chapter in the war against extremists and radicals, they will recognize certain truths: one, that we recognize that if we were to retreat from the Middle East the enemy would not be content to remain where they are, but they would follow us here. We recognize that the best way to protect our homeland is to defeat an enemy overseas so we do not have to face them here on the streets of America. And we recognize that liberty is powerful, that liberty will yield the peace that we want for generations to come; that will recognize that this generation of Americans did the hard work now, so that future generations could live in security and peace.”
